Sit-in protests violence in Kwakta area

A sit-in protest was staged by locals at Kwakta Bazar on Monday denouncing violence in the area and de-manding solution to restive situation by the government.
The protest organised by Meitei Pangal Intellectual Forum, Kwakta had the par-ticipants numbering around 2500 holding placards and chanting slogans 'long live Manipur', 'Don't spread ru-mours in Kwakta', 'We want to live together', 'Violence is not the solution', etc.
Speaking to media persons, All Kwakta Coordinating Com-mittee general secretary Anish Ahamad pointed out that since outbreak of the violence on May 3 people of Kwakta set up relief camps and extended help to displaced people.
Meitei Pangal community of Kwakta have no enmity with anyone, but recent vio-lent activities in the area has disrupted peace and created fear among the denizens, he added, while appealing to both Kuki and Meetei communities not to fire or carry out bomb attacks in Kwakta.
A public donation drive was also conducted at the protest to raise money for treatment of two Meitei Pangal children who were injured in explosion and firing incidents.
