RD&PR minister Y K heffichand said that the gov-ernment is taking up measures to construct houses for dis-placed families under special PMAY scheme.
The minister said this while distributing special job cards under MGNREGS along with Rs 1000 cash assistance to 25 displaced families, who are tak-ing refuge in the relief camp set up at Manipur College, Singjamei on Monday.
He said that displaced families will be provided special job cards un-der the scheme as part of relief measures while confiding that the housing assistance is being considered by the ministry of rural development.
Data collec-tion is underway in this regard and will be completed soon, the minister said while urging all concerned to stand for peace and unity.
According to RD&PR joint secretary Ng Roben, there are 167 displaced persons from 50 families in the relief camp with 25 of them provided special job cards in the first phase.
Efforts are on to cover the remaining 25 families as there are some tech-nical issues, including non-pos-session of Aadhaar card and
bank accounts among others, which need to be addressed first.
Informing that the job card holders will be provided works in Langthabal Mantrikhong GP area, he also informed said that 3382 such special job cards have been seeded for distribution to displaced families.
Additional chief secretary (RD& PR) MH Khan and ADM Imphal West N Johnson were also present on the occasion.
