Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday visited relief camps in Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts and interacted with the displaced people who have been taking shelter in the relief camps.
During the visit, the Gov-ernor heard grievances and hardships faced by the people and assured them all possible help at the earliest.
Anusuiya Uikey disclosed that she has requested the Prime Minister to call com-munity leaders for talks so that a durable solution can be achieved which is needed for bringing normalcy and peace in the state.
In Kangpokpi district, the Governor visited relief camps opened at TL Shalom Acade-my, Motbung and Motbung Government High School and enquired about the facilities being provided to the people while directing the district administration to improve whatever necessary.
While interacting with the people, Anusuiya stated that being a guardian of the people in the state, she feel shocked to see the aggrieved people in relief camps in many districts.
"We are trying to settle the issue with all possible means," she said, while adding security forces are being deployed in vulnerable areas and as a tem-porary arrangement, houses are being built in different locations for settling the dis-placed people and adequate compensation will be given to the affected people.
Condemning all forms of violence she appealed all stakeholders to cooperate with the government in bringing peace in Manipur.
She also distributed blankets to the families in the camps from her side.
Later, Anusuiya went to Bi-ramangol College, Sawongbung relief camp in Imphal East dis-trict and enquired about the conditions of the people who are taking shelter in the camp.
She heard about the griev-ances faced by the people in the camp and directed the district administration to provide all requirements of the people.
The Governor also distributed blankets to the families in the camp.
Interacting with the inmates, she conveyed that it will take time to settle the ongoing is-sue and all out efforts are being made by the central and state governments.
Governor further appealed all stakeholders to come forward for talks in restoring normalcy and peace in the state as usual through peaceful and amicable dialogue.
Meanwhile, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) Sadar Hills submitted a memorandum to the Governor during her visit at the relief camps at Motbung Model village.
Among others, CoTU's de-mands include deployment of adequate number of Central forces and Army in the pe-ripheral areas of Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Chandel and Tengnoupal districts; protec-tion of tribal rights and land as enshrined in the Constitution.
They also demanded to depute all categories of central service employees and state service employees, who are working/ posted in Imphal areas and be given posting outside Imphal or make special arrangements for them to continue their ser-vices maintaining that Kuki-Zo employees are no longer safe to work in the valley areas.
It also demanded to provide all Kuki-Zo areas a one-time exemption from all criteria to enable them to affiliate/switch over to CBSE or other contem-porary boards of the country; make arrangement for college and universities including med-ical and engineering students to complete their courses/stud-ies outside Imphal or in other northeast states.
Other demands include, to review the constitution of a team of non Kuki-Zo ministers and MLAs for overseeing supervision and management of relief camps in the tribal areas and entrust the local Kuki-Zo MLAs in respect of the four Kuki-dominated dis-tricts instead; to set up housing assistance for persons affected by the crisis; and to recommend to the Union government for immediate solution in the form of separate administration for Kuki-Zo tribal in Manipur.
