Bodies decry suspension of OC in viral video case

While condemning the suspension of Nongpok Sekmai police station officer in-charge Keisham Premkumar for alleged failure to prevent the naked parading of two women near B Phainom village on May 4, Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AM-PAL) demanded withdrawal of the suspension order with the assertion that even the DGP could not control the number of mob that exceeded 7000 people.
In a release, AMPAL condemned the selective trial amidst the conflict, especially as law of.
the land could not be enforced on the Kukis but used to target the Meitei.
While enquiring whether any action has been taken up against Kuki people holding high positions in the police department, the Lup pointed out the OC went to the area as bound by duty but could not exercise his constitutional mandate owing to the unprecedented number of the mob.
AMPAL also cautioned of launching intense agitation if authorities concerned do not reinstate the OC.
Bishnunaha Youth Federation Yairipok (BYFY) also demanded revocation of the suspension order of the Nongpok Sekmai PS OC over the viral video within,72 hours and suggested that priority be accorded to end the conflict and conduct the trial later.
After a meeting of clubs in Yairipok area including Chandra-khong, Pechi, Nongpok Sekmai, Khoirom, Kekru, Bishnunaha and Siphai Leikai was held regarding the OC's suspension at BYFY's Yairipok Bishnunaha office, BYFY president Laishram Ananda told media persons that the suspension order must be revoked within 72 hours to avert intense agitations.
Recalling the brutal murders and killings of Meiteis in Churchandpur, Moreh and Tor-bung, he questioned whether their lives are insignificant.
What actions were initiated against the police and government officials about May 3 incident, he enquired and insisted that the particular case should not be handed over to CBI.
If it all CBI is entrusted to handle the case, then every incident on both sides of the comriiunal divide since May 3 should be probe by the same agency.
