The team of Opposition MPs landed here on a two-day visit to the State to assess the current situation of Manipur.
Saying that they were shocked and deeply hurt on hearing the tales of the displaced people at the relief camps, Gaurav Gogoi remarked that all the displaced people yearn for peace and normalcy.
The MPs would submit a memorandum to Governor Anusuiya Uikey tomorrow.
Moreover, the alliance has decided to raise the Manipur issue in the Parliament, he said.
"We came here to listen to the people affected by the violence and we will represent the people's voice in the Parliament", said the MP from Assam.
The Central Government should have tabled the issue in the Parliament and worked to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
It is a matter of a grave concern that the Central Government has been paying little attention to the Manipur crisis, he said.
CPI MP from Kerala P Santhosh Kumar remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to speak a single word even though the European Parliament has already deliberated on the Manipur crisis.
The way Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been staying aloof from the Manipur crisis is rather shameful.
He should have come to Manipur, Santhosh Kumar said.
He also questioned the silence of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
CLP leader Okram Ibobi and State presidents of different political parties which are constituent members of INDIA were also present at the press meet.
