Four nabbed in MSCB looting case

Imphal, July 29 2023:
Kangpokpi district police on Saturday arrested four persons allegedly in volved in looting the MSCB, Kangpokpi branch and re covered some looted items from them.
The arrested quartet has been identified as Lamjalen Chongloi alias Lelen (33), son of late Lunkhohao Chongloi of Chalwa village presently residing at Kangpokpi W/ No-13, Lengoumang Kipgen alias Goumang (30), son of late Santinlal Kipgen of Songtun village, Lunminthang Khong sai (33), son of Thanglen Khongsai of Louzol village and Seiminthang Khongsai (34), son of Ngamlet of Louzol village.
The recovered items included computers and electronic items.
An SIT was formed under the leadership of additional SP (LO) Tholu Rocky to investigate looting of the MSCB branch, which remained closed since May 4 but found was burgled when officials and staff opened the bank on July 11.The police were told that the culprits had also stolen yet-to be issued ATM cards from the bank.
The team tracked the ATM cards and it was observed that the culprits used the cards to withdraw cash from ATMs located in Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.
Based on this information, the team collected CCTV footages from the banks following due procedure.
The SIT team first arrested Lamjalen Chongloi after he was identified as one of the looters by staff of the bank from the CCTV footage.
During initial interrogation, the accused conceded the charges and informed about whereabouts of other accomplices.
Based on his inputs, other culprits were arrested on Saturday, a police source informed.
