Senapati, Thoubal police seize drugs, nab two

Senapati district police arrested a man and recovered more than 4kg opium from his car during frisking and checking along NH-2 road on Saturday morning.
The captive has been identified as Mangkhokam Misao (29) son of Vumpao Misao of BPO Phaipijang village, Dimapur, Nagaland.
According to a source, a team of Senapati district police led by sub-inspector H Talu Marcus under the supervision of SP Shivanand Surve conducted frisking and checking along the NH-2 near Khongnem Thana as part of government's War on Drugs 2.0 .
A Hyundai Venue car (NL-07 CA-2459) was halted for checking during which four packets suspect ed to be opium were found concealed under the seat.
The police team immediately informed DC Senapati about the suspicious item and requested to depute one executive magistrate.
Accordingly, ADM Senapati S Lunguiba Thangal was deputed as executive magistrate and in his presence, Mangkhokam Misao took out four transparent plastic polythene packets of suspected Opium from under the seat of the car.
The four packet were weighed with each found to be 1.012 kg , 1.012 Kg, 1.011 Kg, 1.011 kg totalling 4.046 kg including weight of plastic polythene.
The detained individual and seized items have been handed over to Senapati police for further investigation and a regular FIR case registered under NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, a team of Thoubal district police commando seized 112 gm Brown sugar from the house of one Makakmayum Shahnawaz (36) son of MaAsraf Ali of Lilong Haorei-bi Turel Ahanbi Kaleikhong Thong Manak on Saturday.
According to a police source, a team of CDO Thoubal led by OC in-charge inspector K Nitaranjan under the supervision of SP Thoubal Wangkhomba Okram-cha searched the house of Shahnawaz at about 4.30am Saturday in the presence of a gazetted officer.
The search led to the recovery of 112gm Brown sugar packed in five soap cases and two plastic packets from Shahnawaz's house.
Shahnawaz along with the seized contraband item has been hsfndiad over to Lilong police station for further necessary action.
