Four held for robbing bank

Four persons, wanted by authorities in a bank robbery case have been arrested by a Special Investigative Team of Kangpokpi district police.
The SIT was constituted in connection with the looting of Manipur State Cooperative Bank (MSCB), Kangpokpi Branch in the early part of the ongoing unrest under the leadership of Tholu Rocky, Additional SP (Law and Order) Kangpokpi to investigate the case.
The team, upon getting an input from the bank that the culprits had stolen ATM cards which were yet to be issued to customers, tracked the ATM cards and observed that the culprits used the cards to withdraw cash from ATM booths located in Senapati and Kangpokpi areas.

The SIT also collected CCTV footage from the banks and one of the culprits was identified as Lamjalen Chongloi alias Lelen (33) s/o (L) Lunkhohao Chongloi of Chalwa village, at present staying at Kangpokpi ward number 13 by MSCB staff.
Subsequently, a police team led by OC Kangpokpi Inspector Henmingthang Kipgen arrested Lamjalen.
On preliminary interrogation, Lamjalen admitted the charges levelled against him and disclosed the whereabouts of the other culprits of the case.
Based on the disclosure of Lamjalen, three other culprits identified as Lengoumang Kipgen alias Goumang (30) s/o (L) Sattinlal Kipgen of L Songtun village, Lunminthang Khongsai (33) s/o Thanglen Khongsai of Loujol village Kangpokpi and Seiminthang Khongsai (34) s/o Ngamlet Khongsai of Loujol village were also arrested.
Police also recovered several stolen items from the possession of the arrested persons.
MSCB Kangpokpi Branch Deputy Manager lodged a complaint saying that the bank had been closed from May 4 till July 10 in view of the law and order situation in the State.
However when he (when Deputy Manager) and some of his staff opened the bank on July 11 they found that the bank had been looted and vandalised.
