Notably the said canal from the Sekmai dam has been catering water needs of paddy fields in Leikinthabi, Awang Wabagai, Tinggri, Awang Potshangbam (both Khunou and Khullen), Keikol, Nilakuthi, Koirengei, Maiba Khul and Mongjam etc starting from Sekmai Santipur.
He also expressed that if the canal feeding these paddy fields is augmented and further streamlined, it could cover more paddy fields, he said while urging the Department concerned to do the needful.
