Seven Meeteis from KLP Moreh reach Imphal

Out of 18 Meeteis taking shelter at the key location point (KLP) of 5 Assam Rifles in Moreh after their houses were burnt down by Kuki arsonists on May 3 last year, seven of them have been safely brought on Tuesday morning and sheltered in relief camps set up in and around the state's capital.
It is said that another 11 Meeteis, including a boy and seven females are still at the KLP.
Speaking to reporters upon their arrival here, the displaced Meetei people informed that they were well looked after by the Assam Rifles at the KLP.
Stating that they were provided free medicines and treatment in times of need, the internally displaced persons also expressed gratitude to the Tengnoupal district administration for ensuring provision of essential commodities during their stay at the KLP where SDO Moreh Ejaj Hussian regularly visited.
The district administration also extended financial assistance of Rs 1000 each to all the 18 people on February 16 .
