Imphal, February 20 2024:
Ibudhou Thangjing Seva Mandal, Moirang and Committee on Protection & Preservation of Historical Rights of Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges (CPPKT) lauded the state government's response to claim of 'so-called chief of Ukha-Loikhai' over ownership of Thangjing Hill.
A release jointly issued by the Seva Mandal and CPPKT expressed their gratitude to the government for declaring that nobody should interfere in the area and for clarifying that there is no record of 'Haokip Reserved Forest' under any rule or Act.
It pointed out that Thangjing hill, which is a pilgrimage site and an integral part of Moirang Kangleirol, is protected as a sacred site of the Meetei but desecrated multiple times even though declared as protected under Historical Monuments and Archaeological sites and Remains Act, 1976 .
