Attract outside investors, says Trade, Commerce & Industries Director

Trade, Commerce & Industries Director Yumnam Robita has asked youths and entrepreneurs of the State to attract investors from outside the State and abroad.
She was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Five Day Faculty Development Programme on Entrepreneurship which began today at the Training Hall of the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, Manipur University.
Stressing on the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship, Robita maintained that society will become robust when youths are skillful and able to generate income of their own through enterprising works.
She added that young and dynamic entrepreneurs are the architect of the future.

Opining that encouraging and inspiring youths to take up entrepreneurship as a career is vital in this regard, the Director expressed contentment that many success stories have come out since many promising youths were acquired by the 'Start-up Manipur' scheme.
Further conveying that the State Government and the Central Government have rolled out many other schemes for empowering MSMEs, such as the 'Manipur One Family One Livelihood Scheme' and Prime Ministers' Employment Generation Program, Robita urged all aspiring entrepreneurs to reap the benefits of the schemes.
The Director went on to underscore the need to attract investors from outside Manipur and abroad adding that skilled workforce, innovation and building networks among other qualities are essential for the same.
Delivering the presidential speech, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Manipur University Professor Th Purnima asserted that the world has become a global village in the 21st century.
Continuing that a lot of challenges are also arising, she said that one must have the life skills and the ability to face the challenges.
The Professor also asked the participants to acquire optimum knowledge and skills from the experts during the five day long development program.
Speaking as the guest of honor, Imphal East Assistant Commissioner Laimayum Rita Devi mooted the idea of organizing skill development programs frequently in the relief camps opened in Imphal East district.
She added that such endeavors will help in upskilling IDPs and generate income through the skills they acquired.
