Imphal, February 20 2024:
Maintaining that not conducting the examination of Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of the Manipur University of Culture is akin to undermining academic career of the students, Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has condemned negligence and indifferent attitude of the university authorities.
Addressing media persons at its Kakwa Naorem Leikai Girls' Primary School office, here on Tuesday, FESOK general sec retary N Rikesh Mangang said that out of 12 departments of the University, BA 1st, 2nd and 3rd year and Master's 1st and final year examinations of 11 departments were conducted effective February 16 .
However, the same for Department of Theatre and Performance Studies was not conducted.
He claimed that investigating into the matter led to detection to various flaws, including the department having post of six teachers but only one regular teacher also doubling up as the head in-charge.
The head in-charge had not signed on the examination forms of the students for submission to the Controller of Examinations.
As such, the admit cards were not issued consequently depriving the students from appearing the exam.
When FESOC tried to meet, the said teacher was found to be on leave and left for Delhi without authorization of the leave application, Rikesh Mangang informed while adding that the said teacher did not even respond to the explanation call served by the Controller of Examinations.
Such teacher who belittles future and career of his students should be penalised at the earliest failing which Manipur University of Culture would be held responsible for any untoward incidents, he declared.
The secretary also appealed to authority concerned to take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
