Senapati, February 20 2024:
The Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) and Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union (SDTDU) have reiterated their stand to continue with the steering off agitation until their demands are honoured.
Transportation of essential commodities to the state capital had been halted after some drivers and their associates were assaulted on February 16 night by unknown armed miscreants at Sekmai in Imphal West district.
The two associations demanded immediate arrest of culprits involved in the incident and launched steering off agitation until rampant illegal tax collections from Kangpokpi to Imphal stretch of NH-2 road ends and Manipur Sand Union stops collection of money from vehicles.
Meanwhile, more than 100 trucks carrying essential commodities are stranded between Mao and Senapati as on Tuesday.
