Director commends role of entrepreneurs in economic development

Imphal, February 20 2024:
A five-day faculty development programme (FDP) on entrepreneurship organised by Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Manipur University's Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development commenced at the department's training hall on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural programme, Commerce and Industries director Yumnam Robita pointed out that entrepreneurs play an important role in developing the economy of a society.
Observing that a society where there are many entrepreneurs will never retrograde, she also emphasised that one should not wait for government jobs but make oneself become an entrepreneur so that jobs could be created for others.
Robita also stated that faculty members of different institutions taking part in the training programme should encourage university students to become good entrepreneurs in future while stressing the need to encourage and learn from people who are self-employed.
She further said that just as the government of India has been encouraging entrepreneurship through "One Livelihood One Family" scheme, the state government is also making its best efforts to invigorate spirit of entrepreneurship in the state.
The director also called upon all concerned to avail subsidy being provided under the Chief Minister Entrepreneurship Sponsor Scheme and Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme to as to create self-employment opportunities.
Presided over by MU DVSSD head and School of Social Sciences dean Prof Th Purnima.
the inaugural function was also attended by Imphal East assistant commissioner Laimayum Rita as guest of honour.
