Assembly to go paperless by adopting 'NeVA'

As part of the mission to make functioning of all legislative houses in the country paperless under the theme of 'One Nation - One Application', the ensuing 5th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which is due to begin from February 28, will go paperless by adopting the "National eVidhan Application (NeVA)" .
A training session for members of Manipur Legislative Assembly was held at the assembly hall on Tuesday, during which experts demonstrated on the usage guidelines of NeVA.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata informed that experts from the ministry were sent to conduct the training to ensure seamless conduct of the upcoming session.
The platform is similar to e-office platforms, which facilitate paperless functioning through mobile phones, computers or tablets.
While NeVA will be adopted from the upcoming session, the House will continue to use the traditional process as well for this session as the members may still face some technical issues.
The objective is to convert all future sessions into paperless sessions, he said.
The tables of the members of the House have space for using and connecting tablets.
Earlier, notices for sessions were sent by paper but from now on, notices will be sent via e-mail.
Business list will no longer be distributed in the House as it will be sent to all the members digitally, he said.
NeVA is a device neutral, member centric and Unicode compliant application created to equip them to handle diverse House Business smartly by putting entire information regarding member contact details, rules of procedure, list of business, notices, bulletins, bills, starred/unstarred questions and answers, papers laid, committee reports etc.
bilingually in English and any regional language in their hand held devices/tablets and equip all legislatures/departments to handle it efficiently.
NeVA will completely eliminate the process of sending out a notice/request for collection of data.
