Trinamool Congress candidate hopes to make party's debut in State Assembly

Imphal, February 06, 2011: Election campaigns for the upcoming by-election of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency has been gaining momentum as only eight days are left for the voters to elect their representative.

Along with hoisting of flags of the contesting candidates, public meetings were held at different locations of the Assembly segment today.

Attending the flag hoisting ceremony of Trinamool Congress nominee K Sarat this morning, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Prof Tiken cautioned the Konthoujam AC electorates that the Congress party is certain to pour in huge amount of money accumulated by the Congress-ruled Government to entice the voters.

It may be noted that the BJP and Manipur People's Party (MPP) are extending support to K Sarat in the by-poll.

Stating that in the nine years of rule by the Congress party, the Government has collected huge amount of money through misappropriation of development funds provided by the Centre, Prof Tiken asserted that the Congress organisation putting forth all its resources and pouring money in the by-election will be a reality.

Questioning the people as to whether any Minister had visited the Assembly Constituency during the two-term governance by the Congress, he said intention of group of Ministers thronging to the constituency these days is to rain money to acquire votes.

Conveying that the money supposed to be distributed to buy votes actually belongs to the public, he called upon the people to accept money given by the Congress workers but not vote in favour of the Congress nominee.
