Pensions distributed to handicapped persons

The All Manipur Handicapped Persons Welfare Association (AMHPWA) today distributed monthly pensions to 70 handicapped persons of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency today in a simple function held at the residence of MLA RK Anand.
Padmashree Laishram Nabakishore, President, AMHPWA T Romio and RK ongbi Panthoi graced the function as chief guest and guests of honour.
MLA RK Anand presided over the function.
Speaking in the occasion, Laishram Nabakishore said that extending cooperation to the handicapped persons is a work of virtue and kindness.
He expressed gratitude to MLA RK Anand for being a donor of the pension scheme.
He said that he is providing pension to 715 persons at present.
He will not cope more persons for the time being.
However when he has enough privilege to help more persons, he will expanded the pension scheme to other persons also.
In his speech, MLA RK Anand said that the act of helping poor and impoverished persons is a spiritual journey.
He had the feeling of helping poor ones right from his childhood.
Since then he has been trying to help the poor and needy ones till now.
Handicapped persons do not become handicapped by their own will.
They should not be discriminated.
He stressed the need of modification of the present disables' act.
State government should give extra attention in this field.
Every MLA is sanctioned an amount of Rs 1 lakh to create awareness for HIV/AIDS.
He appealed to all the MLAs to donate some amount for the handicapped persons for every month.
He also assured to discuss for the welfare schemes of handicapped persons in the upcoming assembly session.
Romio said that the pension was distributed to the handicapped persons with the help of MLA RK Anand and Padmashree Laishram Nabakishore who is the donor of the scheme of the association.
