FoH condemns attack on state forces; UAL seeks justice

Imphal, January 17 2024: Condemning the brutal killing of four firewood collectors and continuous attacks on state forces in Moreh by Kuki narco-terrorists using sophisticated weapons, Federation of Haomee (FoH) has demanded that central government take immediate action against the narco-terrorists.

In a release, FoH general secretary Y Shyam Khuman condoled the demise of the police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting Kuki narco-terrorists in Moreh on Wednesday along with paying respect to the three personnel who suffered injuries in the attack.

The Federation also expressed strong disapproval against the central forces not taking any action against the perpetrators while observing that people of Manipur cannot trust the central government and forces if they remain silent inspite of aware about involvement of external aggressors.

Acknowledging commitment of state government and forces in upholding the unity and integrity of Manipur and the nation from Kuki narco-terrorists, FoH reiterated that the union government and central forces cannot remain nonchalant when external aggressors and narco-terrorists are directly targeting indigenous people of the state and Meeteis.

The federation further appealed to all indigenes and CSOs to press the centre and central forces for taking immediate action against Kuki-terrorists in one voice.

Meanwhile, commending Manipur Police special commando for arresting Philip Khaikholal Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate, who are prime suspects in the killing of Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar, Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) advised the police to complete the investigation at the earliest and file charge sheet in the court concerned sb that they are punished as per the law.

In a release, UAL publicity secretary Chingthang Nambam conveyed that the case should not be submitted to the CBI as the state has many qualified police officers to investigate the matter.

On the other hand, the statement by ITLF and CoTU for release of the two accused within 48-hour and the threat to shut government establishments in Kuki-Zo area, underscore support for the murderers and as such should be punished, it emphasised.

UAL further stressed that government should not succumb under their pressure and release the two accused, adding that other perpetrators involved in the case should also arrested at the earliest and charge sheet filed against them all.
