Ukhrul, October 11 2023: Transport minister Khashim Vashum advised students of government schools in Ukhrul district to value the importance of hard work and patience in order to reach their goals and dreams in life.

He encouraged students to not lose heart and instead embrace the spirit of hard work and patience.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 74th Ukhrul District Inter-School Sports Association (UDISSA) Meet 2023 at Ngainga village, minister Vashum inspired the students to ensure that their hard work and endurance will eventually take them to their goals.

He further highlighted that the values of hard work and determination will always make them stand out in their fields and will help develop the skills they require to achieve their ambitions and dreams in life.

The minister also recount -ed that he himself was a student of a government school during his high school times.

"It s not the standard of your schools, but your perseverance that will make you successful in life," he testified.

Khashim, who holds the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary portfolios, reminded students of the importance of achieving professional success not just in education but in all areas of occupation.

He asserted that both educational qualifications and experience are necessary components of one's career success and highlighted the need for students to invest time and energy in studies in order to get good grades.

He also spoke about the importance of recreation and sports in the lives of students, and encouraged them to actively participate and compete in sports as it helps them to develop leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.

Touching on the development area, the minister informed that work for the long-awaited construction of Talui Junction-Ukhrul via Ngainga road has commenced and appealed to the contractors concerned to execute the works in right earnest and not to worry about the bill release which would happen soon.

Khashim further disclosed that construction of the buildings of the Primary Health Sub Centre in Ngainga, Tusom and Ringui villages are almost completed and would be inaugurated by CM Biren Singh very shortly.

He added that he had also provided a 2000 litres capacity water tank to each of the upcoming PHSCs.

Earlier in the day, the minister inaugurated a new park Machew Park in Ngainga village, located about 10 km west of Ukhrul town.

Speaking at the event he appealed to all to develop a love for nature.

He said that the Park being naturally gifted by nature is beautiful.

But then, while beautification is mandatory to attract visitors to the park, nature needs to be maintained at any cost, he emphasised.

"I appeal to you that while beautifying the park, we need to take care of nature and not disturb the natural environment.

He called for furnishing the park with natural materials, and not artificial articles like plastics and other materials.

The minister also assured to provide Rs 2 lakh for beautification of the park from his local area development fund, while urging the locals to contribute their mite to the development and sustenance of the park.
