Imphal, November 16 2010:
A two days medical camp was organized by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division at Phallong village of Tamenglong district on November 13 and 14, an IGAR (S) release said.
The Medical team provided free medical check up and treatment to poor people of Phellong and nearby villages which are extremely remote and lack even basic medical facilities.
Approx 245 villagers including women, children and old were benefitted from the noble initiatives of the security forces.
The medical team of Assam Rifles was accompanied by the village health workers who were earlier trained by the battalion at Tamenglong so as to provide these local girls with practical experience and on the job training during these camps.
Assam Rifles located in Tamenglong has been organizing such yeoman services to the villagers in the past also and has received huge support and praises from the locals.
Conduct of such events is a mark of the resolve of security forces in Manipur for people's welfare, especially in far flung remote villages where no medical facilities exists.
