In a swift action over the report of theft in the district headquarters, the UKhrul District Police under Ukhrul Police Station yesterday nabbed four persons who had allegedly stolen major parts of a dozer used by the GREF in cutting new highway from Ukhrul-Kharasom junction to Tolloi.
On November 12 at around midnight the gang of four barged in at a place where the dozer was kept and blind-folded the two GREF labourers who were looking after the machine although the report came to Ukhrul Police Station late, police said.
On receiving information about the incident the police personnel immediately launched a search operation yesterday in and around the area leading to the arrest of four persons involved in the incident, they said.
Some parts of the bull-dozer which include, one pair of hydrolic jack and hydro tank with the value of more the one lakh rupees were recovered from them, they added.
The incident has hampered the progress of road cutting works at Ukhrul Kuiva Kazo, about 3 km away from here.
