Imphal, November 16 2010:
The Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) has categorically stated that the ongoing mass cease work strike would continue until due order is issued for implementation of the 6th Central Revised Pay in toto.
Despite repeated assurances and the MoU signed on May 19 this year for implementation of the 6th Central Revised Pay in toto, the necessary order has not been issued till date.
As such, COTA has no faith in the Govt. The ongoing cease work strike would be called off only when necessary order is handed over to the COTA, it added.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO observed that the teachers' strike is more than justified.
Putting up several demands, the JAC has threatened to join the teachers' cease work strike if their demands are not at the earliest.
Even as an MoU was signed six months back for implementation of the 6th Central Pay in toto, the Govt is still unable to issue the necessary order for rectification of the pay anomaly.
Moreover, as against total arrears for 51 months entitled to State Government employees, it was agreed that only six months' arrears would be given to employees in two phases.
But the necessary order has not been issued till date.
Although, it was agreed that wages for labourers of the State would be fixed in the range fixed by the Central Government, the State Cabinet fixed the wages at a lower range.
Taking into account of the escalation in prices of essential commodities, the JAC categorically stated that it cannot accept the rate of wages fixed by the Cabinet.
It further urged upon the Government to put into action its assurance of regularising Ad-hoc, Casual, Muster Roll and Work Charge workers at the earliest.
The JAC also demanded implementation of the Die-in-Harness Scheme as earlier as well as payment of due allowances according to the 6th Central Pay.
NPA for doctors should also be given in the same range as given by the Central Government.
If the State Government fails to initiate necessary processes to fulfil these demands at the earliest, the JAC would be compelled to join the COTA and launch cease work strike.
