Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Speaker in-charge of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshore Singh and top security officers have conveyed warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zoha, which will be celebrated tomorrow here in the State.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat, greeting the people of Manipur, specially the Muslim brethren on the auspicious occasion said 'festival of Idul-Zuha reminds us of the supreme and selfless sacrifice made by Ibrahim in accepting God's command/instruction regarding the sacrifice of his son'.
It is an occasion to spread the message of peaceful co-existence cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion, the Governor said.
Joining the people of Manipur in celebrating Idul-Zuha and conveying his heartiest greetings to all, the Governor hoped that festival would be celebrated in its true spirit.
Greeting the people, the chief Minister said that Idul-Zuha reminds us of the supreme sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim for the sake of mankind.
Let this sacrifice inspire us to dedicate ourselves to all causes that are good and noble and work for the betterment of humanity at large, the Chief Minister prayed.
May the occasion also spread the message of friendship and forgiveness among the people for a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur, he added.
In his message, Speaker in-charge of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshore prayed to the Almighty God for ushering in an era of peace and stability in Manipur along with celebration of Idul-Zuha.
MP Dr T Meinya, Rural Development Minister Md Allaudin Khan and MLA K Meghachandra Singh have also conveyed their greetings for Idul-Zuha to the people.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC); Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India; Minority Cell of Manipur People's Party; United Muslims Council, Manipur; Sadar Bazar Jame Masjid Managing Committee; Wangjing Tentha Block Congress Committee (I); 7-Andro Block Congress Committee; Manipur University Muslim Students' Union (MUMSU); All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union; Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) have also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Idul-Zuha.
In his message, GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen DS Hooda extending warm greetings to the people said 'We pray to Allah to shower his blessings on Manipur to bring peace, harmony and prosperity to the State'.
Let this Idu'l Zuha herald a new dawn, bring fresh hope and promise; Let it be a time for love and brotherhood.
We pray that Manipur may flourish and be blessed with everlasting peace, the GOC said.
IGAR (S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan has extended 'very warm' greeting and sincere goodwill to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Idu'l Zuha (bakrid).
May this festival herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the warm and friendly people of all the communities of the State of Manipur, a PRO IGRA (S) release quoted the Major General as saying in his message.
