Imphal, April 08 2010:
During sustained operation by troops of 37 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector in the Samtal Salient in Chandel district one IED a lathode bomb recovered on April 6 had been subsequently destroyed near Aibol Joupi village.
Stating that disposal of the explosive items prevented casualties to the villagers as they were found laid in main track, a PRO IGAR (S) release informed that the IED was marked with a red cloth and with a big bamboo.
Three more IEDs (pressure activated) were recovered on April 7 by troops of 43 Assam Rifles who were deployed on area domination patrol in general area Shalwang Dung of Chandel, the PRO informed.
Another haul of an IED, 100 gms PEK, one detonator No.27, one metre safety fuse and one GC primer were recovered by troops of 22 Grenadiers from new Samtal and New Lajang on April 7, the PRO release added.
