Along with inaugurating them, newly set up model schools in six districts have begun their academic session from today.
The six districts where the newly set up model schools have begun their session from today are Wangkhei High School in Imphal East, Lamding High School in Thoubal district, Ningthoukhong High School in Bishnupur district, Liwa Chaning High School in Chandel district, Gandhi Memorial High School in Churachandpur and Raphei High School in Ukhrul district.
The model school of Imphal West district had already been set up and functioning from Keishamthong High School.
With exception to the model school of Imphal East District, the academic session of the rest have been inaugurated by the respective ZEOs.
The inaugural function held at Wangkhei High School (Special Category English Medium Government School) was attended by Education Minister Jayantakumar as chief guest, Commissioner of Education PK Singh as functional president and MLA of Yaiskul A/C E Suraj Singh and Director of Education (S) M Harekrishna as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Jayantakumar said that proper education to its children is a must in the development of any Nation or society.
So every individuals in the society should contribute their mite towards the cause of promoting education.
The Minister asserted that the problems being faced in education today in Manipur is because of the mistakes committed by the Government and other related officials around 20 years back.
Informing that the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act has also been implemented in Manipur with effect from April 1, the Minister said that steps have been taken up to ensure development of necessary infrastructures.
In his presidential address, Commissioner PK Singh acknowledged that success of school education would not be possible by the efforts of the Government and its related authorities alone.
It should also be the collective responsibility of the teachers, the students and their parents.
The Minister also led the other dignitaries in distributing text books and other stationery items among the students at the function.
