Imphal, July 15 2010:
The UKLF has expressed dismay over the alleged double standard policies adopted by the State and Central Governments while dealing with Kuki rebels.
Contrary to SoO ground rules, there has been sudden birth of new armed outfits like PRA, UMLA, KNLF, KLA (T), ZRF, UKLA (MC) etc under the patronage of KNO which has been encouraging clan politics and divisions besides worsening financial burden upon poor Kuki masses.
A press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary JM Zou also decried the alleged inaction and insensitivity towards the voices of the affected land owners of Moreh Integrated Check Post whose shares of compensation amounting to Rs 20 crores have been fraudulently and forcibly deducted by the KNA/KNO.
Pointing out that SoO ground rules forbids extortion, the UKLF asked as to why the Government did not take up timely action to the plea of the threatened affected land owners.
It also recalled that a year ago, immediate action was taken by the Government upon ZRA, another SoO signatory, in the case of fraudulent withdrawal of fund from UBI Churachandpur which was later recovered.
It further called upon both the State and Central Governments for sincerity and effective implementation of SoO ground rules in letter and spirit.
