Imphal, July 15 2010:
The united Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has called upon the State Government and the Centre to implement the ground rules of Suspension of Operation (SoO) sincerely and effectively in letter and spirit, instead of blaming and pinpointing the Kuki rebels alone.
Secretary, Information and Publicity of UKLF, JM Zou said in a press release issued today that the UKLF in quest of peace and equal development had decided to cease all kinds of hostile activities toward the government with the signing of SoO.
However, to the Party's dismay, it has been found that the State and the Central governments had been indulging in adopting double standard policies while dealing with the Kuki rebels, JM Zou said.
Contrary to the SoO ground rules, there has been sudden birth of unwanted new armed outfits namely, PRA, UMLA, KNLF, KLA(T), ZRF, UKLA(MC), etc.
which are purely founded on the basis of clan and tribe calculations by the KNA/KNO.
The ultimate consequences of such unwanted birth of armed outfits given by the surrogate motherKNO further encourage clan-ism and divisiveness besides worsening 'financial burden' upon the poor Kuki masses, the press release pointed out.
It asserted that with suspicion, the UKLF wonders why the concerned government authorities allow such formation of new armed outfits within the fold of KNO.
At the same time, the UKLF expresses its disappointment at the government's inaction and insensitivity to the voices of the suffering and affected land-owners of the Moreh Integrated Check Post, whose shares of compensation had been fraudulantly and forcibly deducted which amounts to approximately Rs 20 crores by the KNA/KNO, JM Zou rued.
As the SoO ground rules forbid extortion, why the government did not take timely action and pay attention to the plea of the threatened and affected land owners (Pattadars), Zou asked.
It is noteworthy to mention that a year ago, immediate action was taken by the government as regards the ZRAa SoO signatory, in the case of fraudulant withdrawal of funds from UBI, CCpur, which was later recovered, he recalled.
