State level training programme on beekeeping kicks off

Imphal, January 13 2024:
A 7-Days State Level Basic Training Programme on Beekeeping kicked off yesterday at Horticulture Farm, Khonghampat.
The training programme was organised by Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (MBHM), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur under the sponsorship of National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The inaugural programme was graced by Md Zakir Hussain, Mission Director, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH); Honey Chara, Director, Horticulture & Soil Conservation; N Madhurja Singh, Joint Director, Horticulture & Soil Conservation; and Dr Laishram Boby Devi, Upadhyaksha Imphal West as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Md Zakir Hussain said that MBHM has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for seeking financial support from the Ministry to assist farmers in honey processing & packaging.
He continued that preparations have been made to conduct a special programme for packaging & processing of locally made honey soon.
It may be mentioned that farmers from Ukhrul, Chandel, Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal East & Imphal West districts are participating in the training programme which will conclude on January 18, 2024 .
