Imphal, January 13 2024:
While describing the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as political stunt to draw political mileage and public sympathy amid humanitarian crisis in the state, Recent Youth Club, Moidangpok and Kangleipak Kanba Lup have appealed to the people not to support the Yatra.
In separate releases, Recent Youth Club and Kangleipak Kanba Lup pointed out that ethnic conflict has been raging in Manipur since May 3, 2023 mainly due to atrocities committed by illegal Kuki immigrants settling in the state.
While many precious lives have been lost, several houses and lifetime savings have been reduced to ashes, thousands of people rendered homeless and many youths staring at a gloomy future, it is disheartening that undermining all the pains and hardships being faced by the commoners, a national political party like the Indian National Congress is planning to flag off a meaningless Yatra from the soil of Manipur.
The yatra itself is nothing other than a political gimmick.
Such indifferent attitude of the party vividly demonstrates that it has least care for the citizens and country but accords importance to winning elections over the death bodies of the innocent citizens.
Appealing to the public not to join the Yatra, they stated that the party should come out of its arrogant mindset of vote bank politics at the eost of rights and interests Of the indigenous people.
The INC should clearly state their stand on the implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur and the base year for the same, the releases demanded.
If Rahul Gandhi sincerely loves Manipur and wants to end the conflict, then the Yatra should be flagged off from Churachandpur, suggested the civil bodies.
