Imphal, April 03 2024: With the 18th Lok Sabha election set to commence in less than three weeks, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has yet again projected its candidate Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam as the most deserving person to be elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Inner Parliamentary Constituency.

Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan during an interaction programme of Congress workers from Imphal West today, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that it would be a victory for Manipur and her people if the common candidate of INDIA bloc in Inner seat Dr Bimol Akoijam emerges victorious in the election.

He said that Dr Bimol Akoijam is being fielded as a people's candidate by the INDIA bloc to protect Manipur.

The incumbent MPs from Manipur not raising the issue of Manipur on the floor of Parliament was disheartening, Meghachandra con- tinued and added that it is Dr Bimol Akoijam who can present the case of Manipur bravely both inside and outside the Parliament.

Further stating that Dr RK Ranjan (MP) who is also a Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education is not bold enough to work in the interest of Manipuri people and he can't even take an appointment with the Prime Minister, the MPCC chief continued that the people should not expect anything from the BJP led Government.

Where have the Go to Village and Go to Hills of Manipur Government gone, the MPCC chief asked and accused the BJP Government of fooling the people by portraying itself as the champion of the people.

Asking the people to be very conscious while casting votes, the Congress leader said that it is indispensable to defeat BJP to protect Manipur.

Candidate Dr Bimol Akoijam, Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surajkumar and former Congress Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya attended the programme among others.
