The Duty Magistrate of Imphal East yesterday remanded Denish Sarungbam to three days police custody till April 4 in connection with the death of a girl at JNIMS Hospital due to consumption of poison.
According to a source, the victim had been admitted at JNIMS Hospital from March 29 and passed away yesterday afternoon.
Soon after her death, Women Police Station, Imphal East registered a case of rape against the accused Denish Sarungbam and arrested him yesterday.
On the other hand, Denish's father Sarungbam Gobin, mother RK Anju from Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai and a woman from Thoubal Leishangthem Leikai who had eloped with the accused filed three different anticipatory bail applications before the Sessions Court, Imphal East today.
Court on perusal of the case, three anticipatory bail applications and considering the facts submitted by the petitioner in their application, ordered that the matter will be considered after a detailed report is received from the concerned OC of Women Police Station, Imphal East.
Hence, the Court directed OC, Women Police Station Imphal East to furnish a detailed report regarding the matter.
The petitioners are also directed to appear before the IO and OC Women Police Station Imphal East on 4 and 5 April to cooperate with the investigation of the case.
The Court has fixed April 10 for report submission and hearing.
