Teams formed for postal ballot collection, delivery

Imphal, April 03 2024:
To facilitate collection and delivery of postal ballot for absentee voters, 30 teams comprising polling officers and armed security personnel have been constituted.
According to an order issued by Imphal East DC/ DEO Khumanthem Diana, the polling teams shall collect and deliver postal ballot for absentee voters.
The polling teams consisting of two polling officers, a videographer, a micro observer and half section of armed security personnel will visit homes for collection and delivery of postal ballots.
The order further informed that all the personnel assigned for duty should report for training at SIRD hall, Porompat DC complex on April 5 at 11 am.
The Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) should make all necessary arrangements for their visits which has been scheduled from April 7 to 12 excluding April 9 and 11 for the first round visit.
The second round visit for left out voters will be done on April 15.The order also stated that all AROs should intimate the electors before going for collection and delivery of postal ballot via SMS on their mobile phones and through the BLOs concerned.
All the polling teams should also report to the AROs concerned at 7:30 am on April 7 for poll duty.
In another order DEO Diana said facility for voting through postal ballot paper has been imparted to senior citizens (AVSC), persons with disabilities (AVPD), marked in electoral roll in their houses, in pursuance to Conduct of Elections (Amendment) Rules, 2019 and Conduct of Elections (Amendment) 2020.In this connection, the AROs of Imphal East district have submitted approved list of eligible absentee voters numbering 1069 AVSC voters, 607 AVPD voters and 3 ESV voters.
