Awareness programme, interactive session held at CAU Imphal

Prof lndira Sarangthem, Dean of the College of Agriculture (CoA), Central Agricultural University(CAU), Imphal has appealed to the farmers community in the State to earn additional income through Lac Cultivation.
The Dean made the appeal during the inaugural function of a 1-day farmers' awareness programme held at the conference hall of the varsity today on the theme, "Scientific Methods of Lac Cultivation for Additional Fanners' income".
Prof Indira continued that farmers in the State could earn a huge additional income through Lac Cultivation besides agricultural activities.
Pointing out that there was evidence of farmers' communities in various States of India getting handsome amounts of incomes from the scientific methods of Lac Cultivation, she asserted that farmers should find alternative ways for earning additional incomes besides engaging in conventional agricultural activities.
"Lac cultivation has been an important scope of earning income in the country and in many parts of the world.
Products made from Lac are in huge demand all over the world", she added.
Asserting that scientific methods of Lac Cultivation require only a minimum effort and minimal cost, the Dean also encouraged all to reap the benefits of Lac Cultivation promoted by the CoA, CAU, Imphal.
Prof Khumukcham Ibohal and Prof Dr U Chaoba Singh of CAU Imphal also attended the event as presidium members.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal also organised an interactive session of CBBOs and FPOs to review the progress of formation & promotion of FPOs under "CSS for formation and promotion of 10-K FPOs" at CAU-NEC Model Farm in Lamphelpat today.
It was attended by CAU, Imphal, Comptroller, Prof Lalita M Gamayak; DEE, CAU Imphal, Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma; DEE, CAU Imphal, Prof Dipak Nath and DEE, CAU Imphal, Director, Prof Th Robindro Singh as presidium members.
SFAC Manipur, Project Coordinator, MS Khaidem; NERAMAC Manipur, Officer In- charge, M Imo Meitei; DDM, NABARD Manipur, I Premjoy Singh; and MD, Cregen Tees Pvt Ltd Imphal, W Somoraj Singh spoke on the occasion as experts.
