Jiri DEO chairs meeting, poll personnel trained

Jiribam district election officer (DEO) and deputy commissioner (DC) Krishna Kumar chaired a meeting with nodal officers (NOs) and additional nodal officers (ANOs) at the conference hall of the DC Office, Jiribam on Wednesday in connection with the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 .
The meeting was held to review the plan and progress of various departments for the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha polls in the district.
During the meeting, the DEO instructed all the NOs and ANOs to be fully prepared for ensuring that the election is conducted peacefully and successfully in the district.
Safeguarding the strong room, checking and frisking of DC's Complex, manpower management, material management, arrangements for accommodation of visiting observers, welfare of polling personnel, postal ballots and identification of first-time voters, persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens, etc., were the key matters discussed during the meeting.
Jiribam SP A Ghanashyam Sharma, ADC Th Manoranjan Singh, and ZEO Thoudam Amurashi Chanu also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the first round of training for all the drafted presiding officers and polling officer I, II & III in respect of Kakching district for the ensuing Lok Sabha election was successfully conducted at the training hall of DC Office (New Block), Kakching on Wednesday.
The training was conducted in two sessions, for batch 1 & 2 and batch 3 & 4 respectively.
During the training, Waikhong SDO/ARO T Milikan Singh, Waikhong SDC/AERO O Poreingamba Khumancha, Kakching SDO/ARO M Ingocha Singh and Kakching SDC/AERO Hijam George spoke as resource persons.
The resource persons focused on effective handling of EVM arid WPAT machines, conduct of Mock Poll, duties of presiding officers and polling officers.
The training also included demonstration on setting up of polling stations, voting compartments for voting among others.
Kakching DEO/DC Rohit Anand, who dropped in accompanied by various district election officials, also shared words of encouragement to the trainees while inspecting conduct of the training session.
