Rich tributes paid to Lamyanba Hijam Irawat

Imphal, September 30 2023: Irabot Celebration Committee, Manipur State Council CPI observed the 127 birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound Imphal today.

MSC CPI Control Commission chairman Langol Iboyaima, veteran politician Dr M Nara, MSC CPI secretary L Thoiren, All Manipur Nupi Marup founder M Kadambini Devi, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup president Y Ibeni Devi, former MSC CPI secretary L Sotinkumar and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council president M Purnimasi Leima attended the observance.

The gathering at the observance paid floral tributes to a life size image of Hijam Irawat.

As part of the observance, Hijam Irawat Memorial Award was conferred on AMIK.

The award carries a cash award of Rs 20,000 and a citation.

Moirangthem Ibohal Memorial Award was given to Khaidem Mangol of Mayang Imphal Kendra Wangkhei Leikai.

Ng Mohendro Memorial Award was given to human rights activist Babloo Loitongbam.

Thoyam Meghachandra Journalist Award was given to Poknapham Editor Robindro Sharma.

Thokchom Bir Memorial Award was given to All Manipur Nupi Marup's Laishram Memma.

Thokchom Boro Memorial Integrity Award was given to M Muheijuddin, Thokchom Achou Memorial Integrity Award was given to Ranjita Golmei.

Thingbaijam Nongyai Memorial Award was given to Meitram Keso.

Thangjam Babu Memorial Award was given to Thangjam Zilangamba.

Sanjembam Chandramani Memorial Award was given to Nandeibam Brajabati.

Anandprasad and Irawat Memorial Award was given to journalist Gyaneshwar Yumkhaibam.

Irawat Memorial Awards were given to Moirangthem Sunita, Yaikhom Ibochouba, Khaidem Nanao and Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee For Peace.

At the event, MSC CPI Control Commission chairman Langol Iboyaima said Jananeta Irawat's birth month September this year was celebrated as "Manipur Integrity Month" recognising the mass movement that has risen against threats that aim to disintegrate Manipur.

Talking about the present crisis, veteran politician Dr M Nara said it is the responsibility of the State Government and the Union of India to protect and preserve Manipur's integrity.

Sacrificing the lives of the people while they cling on to power isn't a right approach.

Law and order is a State subject and the Chief Minister is responsible for maintaining law and order throughout the State, Dr M nara said.

He continued that it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister and the Government to protect the lives and properties of the people.

If the Chief Minister is unable to discharge his duties, then he should resign before the people.

The State Government should pursue a political solution to bring peace and normalcy, he said.

Further, all the elected legislators must take a firm stand to protect and preserve Manipur's integrity, he added.

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) observed Irawat Day at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching.

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Ph Nando Luwang, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) president Y Kunjarani, advisor Ch Ongbi Usharani, Manipuri Student Federation (MSF) president Roshan, Thangmeiband United Club president Pratap Leishangthem attended the observance along with members of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs Organisation.
