MSPDCL seeks action against unauthorised Facebook group

Imphal, April 03 2024: The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited has sought the assistance of the Cyber Crime Branch, Imphal in taking down an unauthorised Facebook group by the name "MSPDCL Manipur Electricity Department" illegally operated by an anonymous user on the social mediaplatform 'Facebook' .

In a letter written to the Officer-in-charge of Cyber Crime Branch Imphal, MSPCL also requested the officer to take necessary action to take down the Facebook group and book the user who is running the group without proper authority & for tarnishing the image of the company.

MSPDCL also asserted that Facebook users are using the said group to share content that has nothing to do with the department/company itself.

"It is also found that certain individuals are circulating content related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections through this group.

Considering the feet that all of India is currently under the model code of conduct such posts have become a deep concern for the company", it added.

MSPDCL further mentioned that as per information made public by the said group, it has about 25,000 members and one "Mangboy Netham" is listed as an admin.
