Imphal, August 31 2023: As a reminder to the previous memorandum, the Committee on Mass Protest Against Assam Rifles submitted another memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Governor of Manipur on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons today at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai, Jenifer Khaidem, member of Committee on Mass Protest Against Assam Rifles, informed that the committee on August 9 last submitted a 10-points memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Governor of Manipur.

She shared that the memorandum listed various demands such as maintaining purity & sanctity of Torbung, disallowing mass burial at the State Sericulture farm in Torbung Bangla, removal of Assam Rifles (AR) from Manipur, opening check posts both in the hills & valley, identification of dead bodies, implementation of No work, No pay policy in all State institutions.

Expressing gratitude to the Government for accepting the demand to disallow mass burial in Torbung Bangla, she mentioned that the Government has not taken any action on the remaining demands of the Committee so far.

"Another demand to revoke the legal notice issued by Assam Rifles to Maheshwar Thounaojam was added to the memorandum which was submitted yesterday as a reminder", she added.

She also cautioned that if the Government fails to fulfil the demands listed in the memorandum at the earliest, the Committee will launch an intense form of agitation.

Jenifer further appealed to the public to take part in the "Convention on oppressive tactics of AR to silence the people" which is scheduled to be held on September 4 .
