Imphal, April 08 2010: Former MLA of Andro Assembly Constituency Salam Chandra Singh passed away at his residence today at 3 am due to a personal ailment.

He was 65 .

Chandra was elected three times to the State Assembly from Andro Assembly Constituency and during his long tenure as a politician he was inducted in the Council of Ministers as the Minister of Family Welfare.

He was also also the founder member of the All Andro Government Employees Association and put his soul and heart towards the development of his Constituency, said the All Andro Government Employees' Association in a statement today.

To pay respect to the departed soul, the Executive Body of the Association observed a two minute silence today at 3 pm.

The late former MLA was also the founder president of the All Andro Youth Clubs' Association, founder president of Andro Development Comitteee and advisor of All Andro Scheduled Caste Students' Union.
