Declamation competition on impact of substance abuse conducted

A declamation competition under the theme "The impact of substance abuse on academic and career aspirations of young people" was held today at Don Bosco High School, Maram Khunou, Senapati.
The competition was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Senapati under its Neighbourhood Youth Parliament program and Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) as a part of its 'Combat against Drugs' campaign.
The event was graced by PP Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati; ML Kaisungbou, MPS, Additional SP (NH-2/Security) Senapati, Livingstone Joshua; Chairperson, CWC, Senapati and Siile Anthony, Former Director, NEC as the jury members.
W Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director, NYK Senapati while delivering the welcome note elaborated on the importance of making concerted efforts to fight against substance abuse.
In his opening remark, Robin Kangba, SDSA vice-president stated that the reclamation competition is a significant part of their ongoing 'Combat Against Drugs' campaign, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and fighting against drug abuse.
In line with the campaign, a series of awareness seminars were conducted at Don Bosco College, Maram, followed by Mt Everest College, Asufii Christian Institute and one at Ecological Park, hosted by TAJ Thangal Students Union.
Recognizing the vulnerability among younger students, the focus has been expanded to high school students as well, he added.
"From humble beginnings, we are striving to evolve our campaign into a powerful force for change.
We are rallying schools, institutes, individuals, and organizations from all walks of life to join hands in this noble cause.
Through grassroots initiatives, advocacy programs, and community engagement activities, we are working tirelessly to raise awareness, dismantle stigmas, and provide support to those affected by substance abuse," Robin Kangba stated.
For today's declamation competition, Roziiveinai Shine of Don Bosco High School, Maram Khunou bagged the first position, Kapeine Samson of St Joseph High School, Shajouba bagged the second position while Raha Octavia of Bethany Hr Sec School, Senapati and RK Erif of PP Christian English School, Lairouching bagged the third position together.
