Cops foil transgender activist's stir bid

Sticking to the demand for restoration of peace and normalcy in the strife-torn state, transgender activist Malem Thongam on Sunday attempted yet another hunger strike protest in front of Nupi Lal complex under Imphal police station.
Malem Thongam, who is also president of Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT), tried to continue his protest at the said complex before police picked up and took him to JNIMS Hospital.
It can be mentioned that Malem started his protest against the protracted violence in the state, in Delhi on February 22.He returned to Manipur and continued the hunger strike at Khurai Konsam Leikai, for which he was remanded to judicial custody by the high court of Manipur.
After release from jail, persisted with the same protest in different areas including at Kangla gate and CM N Biren's residence at Luwangsangbam only for the police to foil such attempts.
