Awareness programme on fire protection organised

Jiribam Forest Division, Government of Manipur organised an awareness programme on 'Fire Protection Under CSS: FFP' at Leingangpokpi community hall today.
The awareness programme was attended by Jiribam Forest Division, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Elangbam Nirmala Chanu; social worker Nameirakpam Budhachandra Singh; Jiribam Forest Division Honorary Wildlife Warden Huirem Rajen Kumar Singh; Assistant Professor L Jaminikanta Singh of Jiri College and Leingangpokpi Long Live Club Advisor G Sarat Sharma as the presidium members.
The officials of Jiribam Fire Service demonstrated fire fighting measures in today's awareness programme which was attended by students, members of NGOs and villagers.
Huirem Rajen Kumar Singh and Red Cross Society Jiribam District general secretary L Jaminikanta Singh spoke as resource persons and deliberated on how to extinguish forest fires.
During the programme, fire booths, caps etc were distributed to the villagers and NGO members.
Speaking at the occasion, DFO Elangbam Nirmala Chanu apprised the gathering about Forest Fire Alert generated by Forest Survey of India to alert the locals about forest fires in their respective areas through the mobile app.
This alert will help in preventing the further spread of forest fires with the help of the nearby residents and local clubs before the arrival of forest staff, she said.
In view of the above, she appealed to all to register themselves for this useful app.
