Imphal, July 15 2010:
In a case of breach of contract by a jeweller to his customer, Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Imphal made the jeeller to part with Rs 11,000 for the end of justice.
In a statement of Consumers' Club, Imphal issued today by its President, W Manglem said that on May 21 last year, one Laikhuram Rupachandra of Top Mayai Leikai gave 5 sun 6 chaning of gold to M/s Langamba Jewellery of Top Khongang Makhong to mend his wife's broken gold bangle.
The jeweller failed to honour the contract and did not mend the broken bangle and also kept the bangle with the jeweller.
L Rupachandra in despair asked the jeweller to either return the gold or the price of the bangle.
The jeweller returned Rs 13,000 to Rupachandra and agreed to pay the remaining Rs 11,000 latter.
In spite of the repeated reminders to the jeweller to pay the remaining amount, the jeweller failed to do so.
L Rupachandra requested the Consumers' Club, Imphal for assistance in recovering the amount from the jeweller.
Consumers' Club, Manipur on behalf of L Rupachandra filed a suit at Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Imphal on May 27 to recover the amount owed by the jeweller.
On July 8, the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Imphal reached a verdict ordering M/s Laingamba Jewellery of Top Khongang Makhong to pay the remaining amount of Rs 11,000 to Laikhuram Rupachandra.
