Leithao massacre condemned, protest staged

Strongly condemning the inhumane killing of 13 Meitei individuals on December 4 at Leithao village in Tengnoupal district, a sit-in protest was staged today at Wangoo Laipham Chithek Leikai Community hall under Sugnu Assembly in Kakching district.
The protest was organised by Wangoo Ahallup Laipham Apunba LUP (WALAL) .
Speaking at the occasion, WALAL Women Wing, finance secretary, Amom Angousana Leima expressed immense pain over the massacre of 13 unarmed Meitei individuals and shared her condolences to the bereaved families.
She further maintained that the 13 unarmed individuals were subjected to extreme brutality before getting killed by suspected kuki militants.
Expressing anguish over the merciless killing of the 13 individuals, she said that WALAL strongly condemn the Leithao massacre in the strongest terms.
Further she appealed to all concerned to refrain from carrying out unwanted activities at Wangoo area by any organizations or individuals amid the prevailing tense situation in the State.
Meanwhile, All Kakching Clubs Co-ordinating Committee held a condolence ceremony today wherein the attendees observed two-minute silence in the honour of the 13 departed souls and prayed that the departed souls may rest in peace.
Later the committee visited the residence of Kshetrimayum Krishnakanta, who was among the 13 slain individuals at Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng and provided monetary aid of Rs 30, 000 to the family members of the deceased to provide some help to the bereaved family members amid this dark hour.
