Imphal, December 07 2023:
Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint-Coordinating Committee has asked both state and Central governments to openly declare their inability to control or take action against Kuki militants so that people could tackle the militants.
Committee convener Laishram Mema told media persons at Khwairamband Ima Keithel Wednesday that both the state and Central governments are unable to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur for more than seven months.
Kuki militants have killed scores of Meetei people in the past seven months with 13 Meetei youth brutally murdered in the latest mass killing.
There is strong suspicion among public that all the 13 youth were killed after being held captive and accordingly the incident happened in Tengnoupal district must be investigated thoroughly and all the cuprits booked and punished, she said.
Terming as unfortunate of government inaction against 10 Kuki MLAs trying to disintegrate the state, L Mema said it well known that wives of leaders of Kuki militant groups have become MLAs.
However, both the state and the Centre are yet to take any action against the MLAs for reasons best known to them or else they should be booked under National Security Act (NSA) for having nexus with militants.
Asking as to whether India's law and Constitution are not implemented in the hills of Manipur, L Mema said government took immediate action whenever something happen in the valley while no action has been taken against law violators in the hills.
