Floral tributes paid, protest held

Wangoo Ahallup Laipham Apunba Lup (WALAL) on Thursday organised a sit-in protest at the local community hall, denouncing the execution of 13 youths at Leithao village in Tengnoupal district, and paid floral tributes to the 13 martyrs.
Interacting with the media at the protest site, WALAL women's wing finance secretary Amom Angousana Leima said that the 13 unarmed youths were killed in custody after subjecting to brutal physical torture, which is evident from the injury marks on their bodies.
WALAL condemns such inhumane acts in the strongest term and demands swift investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, she said.
On the other hand, Leima also condemned unwanted incidents in Wangoo area whether the victim is innocent or not.
He appealed to all concerned to refrain from carrying out such acts in future in Wangoo area.
All Kakching Clubs' Coordinating Committee also organised a sit-in protest against the execution of 13 Meetei youths at Leithao village on December 4.The protestors also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the martyrs during the protest staged at Library and Information Centre, Kakching.
Later, the committee representatives visited one of the victims, Sougaijam Krishnakanta's home at Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng and extended financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to the bereaved family while sharing their grief and pain.
