Chandel Second Division Football : Stage set for final showdown between Ziontlang SYC and Cheengkhu YC

Imphal, December 07 2023: The stage has been set for the final match of the DC Chandel Trophy 2nd Division Football Tournament 2023 between Ziontlang SYC and Cheengkhu YC at Sports Complex, Chandel on December 9 .

In the semi finals today at Sports Complex Chandel, Ziontlang SYC and Cheengkhu YC beat their opponents 3-1 to enter the final.

Ziontlang SYC beat Chandel Christian YC in the first semi final match while Cheengkhu YC beat Chakpikarong YC in the second semi final match.

The semi final match between Ziontlang SYC and Chandel Christian YC kicked off at 12 noon with hundreds of spectators cheering for their favourites.

Ziontlang SYC led the first half of the match 2-1 against Chandel Christian YC.

R Chungam and PR Lungir scored the two goals for Ziontlang SYC in the 29th and 32nd minute of the match.

The 2-0 lead however was changed to 2-1 in the match's 41st minute as WNG Rucho did excellently to open the account for Chandel Christian YC.

The second half of the match saw Chandel Christian YC players putting in their best efforts to find an equalizer while Ziontlang SYC were trying to extend the lead by one more goal as insurance.

Despite their best efforts, Chandel Christian YC did not find an equalizer but ended up conceding a third goal in the 70th minute.

The third goal by MK Salemthang in the 70th minute gave Ziontlang SYC the insurance they were looking for and corroded Chandel Christian YC's hope for an equalizer.

The match ended in Ziontlang SYC's 3-1 victory.

In the second semi final match that kicked off at 2 pm, Cheengkhu YC beat Chakpikarong YC 3-1 to enter the final with Angpu scoring a double.

Cheengkhu YC led Chakpikarong YC 2-0 in the first half.

Angkesh scored the first goal for Cheengkhu YC in the 31st minute and Angpu scored his first and the team's second goal in the 38th minute.

In the second half of the match, Tangkhel found the net in the 50th minute giving Chakpikarong YC a goal and with it a hope for finding an equalizer.

The hope for an equalizer, however, lived short as Angpu of Cheengkhu YC found the net and scored for the second time barely 3 minutes later in the 53rd minute.

Chakpikarong YC couldn't recover and suffered a 3-1 defeat catapulting Cheengkhu YC to the stage for a final showdown against Ziontlang SYC.

The final match between Ziontlang SYC and Cheengkhu YC will be played at Sports Complex, Chandel on December 9.Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, M Rajkumar, Superintendent of Police Pandey Hemant and Commandant 8th Manipur Rifles will attend the final match.
