Kakching, December 07 2023:
Recalling the assurance given by the chief minister to continue operation till the assailants of SDPO Moreh have been arrested, Langsai Thouna Kakching has questioned the reason for suspending the operation.
Addressing a press meet at Kakching Lamkhai on Thursday, Langsai Thouna convenor Rajiv Kshetri said that displaced families are still unable to return to their homes even after seven months since the clash broke out.
Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) are roaming freely beyond their designated camps and carrying out attacks on Meetei villages despite huge deployment of central security forces.
If the central forces are not performing their assigned task, which is to safeguard life and property of the people, it would be better to send them back and deploy and empower state force to restore normalcy, he said.
Pointing out that Moreh, which is an important economic hub for the state, is still inaccessible by the Meetei residents, he demanded the government to allow state force to carry out the operation freely without interference from the central security forces.
He also appealed to all political parties in the state to refrain from any type of election campaign in relation with the upcoming Lok Sabha election before resolving the crisis.
