Fitting tributes paid to Lamyanba Irabot ; CBI probe progressing, says Biren

Informing that the CBI's investigation into the cold blooded murder of two young students has been making good progress, Chief Minister N Biren has asserted that all the culprits will be booked and awarded befitting punishment.
A State level function of Irabot Day was held today at Irabot Square, Thangmeiband Lilasing Khongnangkhong where Chief Minister N Biren led the gathering in offering floral tributes to the statue of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
Speaking on the occasion, N Biren remarked that Jananeta Hijam Irabot was a great visionary leader who dedicated his whole life to the cause of Manipur and her people.

He said that most of the MLAs/Ministers could not attend the function as they are currently out of station and appealed to all the people to control emotions, stay calm and work collectively to save Manipur from adversarial forces.
"Let us sit together and thrash out all misunderstandings, work sincerely and collectively to protect the integrity of Manipur.
Let us all take a collective pledge to promote peaceful and harmonious co-existence", he said.
On being enquired by media persons about the State Government's announcement for investigation into the excesses committed by security forces in the name of controlling students' protest, the Chief Minister said that he strongly condemns the act of unleashing brute force upon students by security forces.
He said that an enquiry has been launched and befitting action would be initiated if any security personnel is found guilty.
On receiving information about injuries inflicted on students by security forces in the course of protest rallies, a Minister was sent immediately to hospitals to enquire about the injured students, Biren said.
The Government gave Rs 50,000 to each of the injured students for their treatment.
The Government will take care of the treatment cost of the injured students.
If any of the students need treatment outside the State, the Government will take care of all the financial requirements, the Chief Minister assured.
The CBI investigation into the murder of Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit has been making good progress.
All the culprits will be arrested shortly and they will be awarded befitting punishment, Biren said.
Transport Minister Khasim Vashum, Advocate General Lenin Hijam, MLA Leishiyo Keishing, Loktak Development Authority Chairman Moirangthem Asnikumar, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh and top ranking civil and police officials attended the Irabot Day celebration.
