Skeletal remains of village volunteer found at Nazareth

Skeletal remains suspected to be of Ngangom Nevi (20) who had been missing since May 28 after heading to Nazareth, Sokom village were found today.
The skeletal remains were found at Sokom village, Chandel district.
A team of forensic experts have started examining the skeletal remains to determine the identity of the individual.Ng Nevi, s/o Ng Sanakhomba of Sugnu Mandop Leikai Ward no 2 went missing on May 28 after he, along with some other people went to the camp of UKLF at Nazareth following an attack by Kuki militants at Sugnu.

Reportedly, Sugnu police managed to identify the site where the skeletal remains were lying after a video clip of some people suspected to be Kuki militants cutting the throat of one person was circulated on social media.
The search was carried out using sniffer dogs and the skeletal remains were found at around 11 am today.
It is said that clothes similar to those worn by the dead person in the viral video were found at the site.
An Executive Magistrate was also present during the search operation.
The remains have been deposited at JNIMS mortuary.
As Nevi was assumed dead even though his body was not found, the last rites were performed with Pangong replica some months back.
